Heatwave grips Pakistan as rain stays away from Lahore
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast continued hot and humid weather across large parts of the country, with Lahore expected to remain dry while some northern regions may receive rain and thunderstorms.
According to the latest weather outlook, there is no chance of rainfall in Lahore, where residents are facing persistent heat and uncomfortable humidity. The city’s sky is expected to remain clear, allowing strong sunshine to push temperatures higher throughout the day.
The Met Office said Lahore’s maximum temperature could reach 39°C, while the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 31°C. Winds are likely to blow at a speed of 5 kilometres per hour, and humidity levels are forecast to stay high at around 69 percent, increasing the feeling of heat.
In Islamabad, weather conditions are also expected to remain hot and muggy during the daytime. However, there is a possibility of rain accompanied by thunderstorms during the evening and night hours. The federal capital recorded a morning temperature of 26°C, while the mercury may climb to 38°C later in the day.
Weather experts have also predicted rain and thunderstorms in Kashmir and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Gilgit-Baltistan is expected to experience partly cloudy conditions, with isolated rainfall likely in some areas.
Meanwhile, Karachi continues to experience warm weather under partly cloudy skies. Although sea breezes have helped reduce humidity slightly, temperatures remain high. The city recorded 30°C in the morning, and the temperature is expected to rise to 35°C during the day.
Authorities have advised citizens to stay hydrated, avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, and take precautions against heat-related illnesses.
