The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast cold and dry weather across Pakistan over the next 24 hours, with fog likely in parts of Punjab, very cold conditions in hilly areas, and chilly, dry weather continuing in Karachi.
According to the PMD’s nationwide outlook, most regions of the country will remain cold and dry, while hilly areas are expected to experience very cold weather with partly cloudy skies. During the morning hours, fog is likely at a few places in northeastern districts of Punjab, potentially affecting visibility on major roads.
Recent Weather Conditions
The Met Office reported that during the past 24 hours, most parts of Pakistan remained cold and dry. However, isolated rainfall was recorded in Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the Potohar region, with snowfall over the mountains.
The highest rainfall was recorded at Muzaffarabad Airport (5 mm) and Murree (5 mm), followed by Garhi Dupatta (4 mm), Kotli (3 mm), Muzaffarabad City (2 mm), Malam Jabba (2 mm), Mangla (1 mm), and Patan (1 mm).
The PMD also reported one inch of snowfall in Malam Jabba and Murree, indicating intensifying winter conditions in northern areas.

Temperatures Dip Sharply
Extremely low temperatures were recorded in several regions. The lowest temperature was observed in Leh at minus 10°C, followed by minus 7°C in Quetta and Parachinar. Other cold spots included Gupis, Malam Jabba, and Astore (minus 6°C), Nathia Gali and Kalam (minus 5°C), and Skardu (minus 4°C).
Karachi Weather Update
Meanwhile, Karachi weather is expected to remain cold and dry over the next 24 hours. The PMD said winds will continue to blow from various directions at 5 to 20 kilometres per hour, maintaining chilly conditions across the city.
The minimum temperature recorded in Karachi on Thursday was 11.5°C, while the maximum temperature is expected to range between 25°C and 27°C during the day. The highest temperature recorded a day earlier was 25.8°C.
For Friday, the PMD forecasts the minimum temperature to remain between 10°C and 12°C. Humidity levels are expected to fluctuate between 20% and 70% over the next 24 hours. On Thursday morning, visibility stood at four kilometres, with humidity recorded at 60%, reflecting continued cold and dry conditions.
Authorities have advised commuters, particularly in fog-prone areas of Punjab and northern regions, to exercise caution during early morning travel as winter conditions persist across the country.
