PMD predicts heavy rainfall across Pakistan

KARACHI (Web Desk): Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted rains in different regions of Pakistan from June 25.

According to the Pak Met Department, monsoon winds are about to enter the northern and central regions of the country and are likely to intensify further in the coming days.

Monsoon rains predicted over vast swathes of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Kashmir, parts of Gilgit Baltistan, Islamabad, north-eastern and southern Baluchistan, upper and south-eastern Sindh from 25th June.

The Meteorological Department further said that under this series, wind and rain are expected in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Dadu on June 26, while wind and rain are expected in Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Khairpur, Ghotki on June 27.

According to Department, the weather in Karachi is likely to be partly cloudy and humid for the next 3 days. In addition, the temperature is also expected to increase in the next 2 days.

Department said that the temperature in Karachi might reach 37 degrees on Wednesday and 38 degrees on Thursday, while there is a good chance of rain with gusty winds and thunderstorms in Karachi from Friday to Sunday.

PMD has also released an advisory for tourists and farmers for precautionary measures. Travellers and tourists are advised to remain extra cautious and do not venture near flood prone areas during rainy season while farmers are advised to manage their activities accordingly.
