
Acclaimed astrophysicist Professor Dr Muhammad Javed Iqbal explained that daylight will last 13 hours and 41 minutes today, whereas night will be 10 hours and 19 minutes long.
After July 1 the duration of daylight will slowly lessen, almost being equal with the night on September 22, according to Dr Iqbal. Generally in the northern hemisphere, summer days are longer and nights are shorter. The peak of this pattern can be seen represented today.

He explained the peculiarity as Earth’s tilt and orbit around the Sun resulting in such variations. The longest day is the result of the sun leaning towards the Northern Hemisphere in summers. On the contrary, in the winters the day gets shorter because of the sun tilting towards the Southern Hemisphere.
