
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), in collaboration with local mobile manufacturers, has announced the distribution of 2,000 free smartphones to female SIM owners across Pakistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and Gilgit Baltistan (GB).
This initiative comes as part of PTA’s celebrations for reaching a major national milestone surpassing 200 million telecom subscribers. The authority stated that this achievement reflects the country’s rapid digital transformation.

“The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) proudly announces a historic milestone crossing 200 million telecom subscribers nationwide,” read an official statement. It also noted that Pakistan now has 150 million broadband users and over 2 million Fiber To The Home (FTTH) subscribers.
As part of the celebrations, mobile phone manufacturers have contributed 2,000 locally assembled smartphones. These devices will be distributed through computerized balloting, exclusively for women SIM holders.
The PTA emphasized that this move aligns with its broader mission to promote digital inclusion and empower women through improved access to technology.
Reaffirming its vision, the authority said it remains committed to “connecting Pakistan and digitally empowering the nation.”
