Intense cold wave expected in most parts of the country: PMD

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast the intense cold wave in most parts of the country.
According to details shared by the Meteorological Department, intermittent snowfall will continue in Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and the mountainous areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, causing drop in mercury to below freezing level. The lakes, rivers, and waterfalls have all frozen in the areas.
The severe cold and snow have restricted travelling, forcing many residents to stay indoors. It has resulted in shortages of food and medicine. Neelum Valley, in particular, has been severely impacted by heavy rain and snow, disrupting daily life.
Temperature readings highlight the extreme conditions, with Kalat at -10°C, Ziarat at -9°C, and Gopis and Quetta both at -7°C. Leh recorded -5°C, and Astore reached -4°C.
