
Amid these monsoon forecasting the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued a fresh alert in view of expected flooding and landsliding.
PDMA have warned both relevant departments and the general public to remain cautious and prepared.
According to details, the fifth spell of monsoon rains is forecasted to continue across Punjab from July 28 to July 31. Heavy rainfall is expected in several districts, prompting PDMA to alert all concerned institutions.
A PDMA spokesperson said the districts likely to be affected include Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Nankana Sahib, Faisalabad, and Okara. Additionally, from July 29 to 31, rainfall is also expected in Dera Ghazi Khan, Bhakkar, Bahawalpur, Khanewal, Pakpattan, Vehari, Muzaffargarh, and Rajanpur.

Relief Commissioner Punjab, Nabil Javed, has instructed all commissioners and deputy commissioners across the province to remain on high alert. Rescue 1122 disaster response teams have also been directed to stay fully prepared. Officials noted that this year’s monsoon has been significantly more intense, with 73% more rainfall recorded so far compared to last year.
The Director General of PDMA has urged citizens to adopt safety measures. Tourists and travelers have been advised to avoid unnecessary travels and to stay alert. Residents have been instructed to move to safer places in case of urban or flash flooding, and not to attempt driving through flowing water under any circumstances.
