(Web Desk): Women in Istanbul staged a dramatic protest during Taraweeh, urging men to act for Al Aqsa’s protection.

In a striking act of protest, women at Istanbul’s historic Fatih Sultan Mehmet Mosque raised their voices against the ongoing situation at Al Aqsa Mosque during Ramazan Taraweeh prayers.

The incident took place inside the mosque when women, standing in the balcony section, threw scarves down toward men praying below. The move symbolized anger and frustration over what they described as silence and inaction by men regarding the protection of Islam’s first Qibla.

Viral images and videos circulating on social media showed the dramatic moment, with men visibly surprised and stunned as scarves fell from above. The protest quickly gained global attention, sparking intense debate across the Muslim world.

Reports clarified that the women did not remove their own hijabs, but instead used extra scarves they had brought specifically for the protest. Their message was clear: men should rise to defend their dignity and sacred sites.

According to coverage by The Independent Turkish edition, the protest took place on the night of Laylat al-Qadr, adding further significance to the act.

The women said their action was inspired by a historical روایت linked to Salah ad-Din, where a woman reportedly threw her scarf before him as a sign of احتجاج over the occupation of Jerusalem.

The protest reflects growing anger and awakening across Muslim communities regarding Al Aqsa, with many calling it a powerful symbol of resistance and a wake-up call for collective action.
