Under the new system, applicants still submit their applications online and visit a visa application center to provide biometrics. Once completed, they no longer need to return to collect their passport. Their visa status is stored digitally and can be accessed via a UK Visas and Immigration account.
E-visas provide a safer and more convenient way to manage immigration status, reducing the risk of lost or damaged passports. Applicants can generate a share code to prove their visa at borders or elsewhere. The UK clarified that visa processing times, eligibility, and conditions remain unchanged.
