(Web Desk): A 4.5 magnitude earthquake rattles northern Pakistan, prompting residents to evacuate homes and offices.

Northern Pakistan experienced earthquake tremors on Tuesday, causing fear and panic among residents in several districts. The Seismological Center confirmed that the tremors were felt across multiple northern areas, including Chitral, Swat, Shangla, and adjoining regions.

According to officials, the earthquake registered a magnitude of 4.5 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter located in the mountainous region near the tri-junction of Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 156 kilometers, which caused the tremors to be felt across a relatively wide area.

The earthquake prompted residents to rush out of their homes and offices as a precaution. Many people gathered in open spaces to ensure safety from potential aftershocks or structural hazards. No immediate reports of casualties or significant damage have been received, according to local authorities.

Seismological experts explained that the depth and location of the earthquake helped reduce its destructive potential, but advised caution in hilly and vulnerable areas. They emphasized that aftershocks could still occur and urged residents to remain alert.

Authorities have instructed citizens to remain calm, follow emergency safety protocols, and avoid panic. Safety tips include staying away from heavy furniture, glass windows, and unstable structures, and moving to open areas if necessary.

The incident serves as a reminder of the region’s seismic activity, and the importance of preparedness measures for earthquakes. Local administrations have activated monitoring teams to keep track of any aftershocks and ensure public safety.
