(Web Desk): Transporters have ended their five-day strike after reaching an agreement with the government, restoring the movement of goods across the country.

Transporters have called off their five-day strike after successful negotiations with the government, bringing the country’s goods transportation system back into operation.

Both factions of the Mini Mazda Association announced the end of the strike following an agreement with government representatives.

The Goods Transport Council Alliance, which includes 15 transport organisations, had supported the protest that brought goods movement to a halt for five days.

President of the Mini Mazda Association said the decision was taken in the interest of the transport community, the country and the public. He expressed hope that the government would fulfil its commitments under the agreement.

He warned that if the government failed to implement the agreement, transporters would adopt a tougher strategy in the future.

“Next time, we will park trucks on roads and stage sit-ins instead of simply observing a wheel-jam strike,” he said.

Haji Sher Ali, president of the Mini Mazda Goods Association, said all major demands of the transporters had been accepted.

He added that a committee had been formed to review the mechanism for daily changes in diesel prices, one of the key concerns raised by the transport sector.

The development comes a day after talks between the Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance and government representatives ended without an agreement.

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs and Sindh provincial ministers, including Saeed Ghani, had participated in the previous negotiations.

With the strike now called off, goods transportation has resumed, easing concerns over supply disruptions and potential impacts on businesses and consumers.

Transporters are now expected to closely monitor the government’s implementation of the agreed measures.
