Six of 11 Murree electric buses found with technical faults
Officials have found technical faults in six of the 11 electric buses deployed in Murree under the Punjab government’s Green Bus Electric Bus Project.
Murree Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi took notice of the issue and visited the buses along with a technical team.
The team inspected the affected buses and reviewed the problems reported by officials. The deputy commissioner also wrote to the Transport Secretary, seeking immediate repairs and complete technical clearance for the affected vehicles.
Buses kept off roads until clearance
The district administration has decided not to allow the affected buses to operate until technical experts declare them fit for service.
Officials have been directed to ensure that no bus is put on the road before the required safety checks are completed. The decision is aimed at protecting residents and tourists who use public transport in Murree.
Authorities said precautionary measures are being taken to prevent safety risks and minimise inconvenience to passengers. The buses will be allowed to resume operations only after technicians confirm that they are fully operational.
Chinese engineers to inspect buses
Chinese engineers are expected to visit Murree to identify and fix the technical faults.
They will also conduct a detailed inspection of the electric buses to determine whether any additional problems require attention. The technical team is expected to examine the affected vehicles and recommend the necessary repairs.
Officials hope the inspection will help identify the causes of the faults and ensure that the buses meet the required operational standards. The administration will rely on the technical clearance before allowing the vehicles to return to service.
Administration focuses on passenger safety
