A brave police officer lost his life while trying to stop a bank robbery in Peshawar, highlighting the dangers faced by law enforcement officers in the line of duty. Police said Additional SHO Bahar Ali was critically injured when armed robbers opened fire during a robbery attempt at a bank located in the Pir Bala area on Warsak Road.
The incident took place on March 6 when the robbers fired shots from both inside and outside the bank, leading to a heavy exchange of fire with police. During the gunfight, Bahar Ali was hit by five bullets. He was immediately shifted to a hospital, where doctors tried to save his life.
The officer remained under treatment for several days but sadly succumbed to his injuries nearly a week later. His funeral prayers were offered at the Peshawar Police Lines, where fellow officers and officials gathered to pay their respects.
Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed, Capital City Police Officer Mian Saeed, and several senior officials attended the ceremony. A police contingent also presented a guard of honour to the martyred officer, recognising his courage and sacrifice.

In a separate incident showing bravery, a young girl in Rawalpindi resisted an armed robber during a street robbery.
The incident occurred in the Mian Qutbuddin area within the jurisdiction of Waris Khan Police Station. According to reports, two sisters were returning home after shopping when an armed robber approached them and attempted to snatch their belongings.
When the sisters resisted, the robber opened fire. Fortunately, the bullets struck the ground, and no one was injured. One of the sisters, Mahnoor Usman, showed remarkable courage and tried to overpower the robber despite the danger.
The robber assaulted her during the struggle, but she eventually managed to escape with three mobile phones and a purse. Even after the suspect fled, the girl was seen chasing him and raising an alarm to alert passersby.
