LAHORE (Web Desk): Pakistan Railways has suspended the Shalimar Express for 30 days after floodwater damaged a railway bridge, disrupting train services between Lahore and Faisalabad.

The Shalimar Express, one of Pakistan’s premium intercity train services, operates between Lahore and Karachi via Faisalabad. Railway officials said the suspension became necessary after floodwater damaged the railway bridge at Qila Sattar Shah Musan Kallar, making the route unsafe for train operations.

According to Pakistan Railways, train services between Lahore and Faisalabad have been halted until the damaged bridge is fully repaired and declared safe. Engineers have started assessing the damage and are working to restore the bridge as quickly as possible.

Officials said passenger safety remains the highest priority. Train operations on the affected section will only resume after repair work is completed and the bridge is certified fit for rail traffic.

The suspension has disrupted the travel plans of hundreds of passengers who regularly use the Shalimar Express to travel between Punjab and Sindh. Many travellers are now expected to switch to alternative train services or other modes of transport until the route reopens.
