Islamabad (Web Desk): Rain and snowfall alert across Pakistan as NDMA warns of landslides, urban flooding, and travel disruption in the coming hours.

The National Disaster Management Authority has issued a nationwide weather alert, warning of rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall in northern areas over the next 12 to 24 hours.

According to the advisory, widespread rain with strong winds and thunderstorms is expected in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir. Northern mountainous areas may also receive snowfall.

In Azad Kashmir, areas such as Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Rawalakot, Bagh, and Mirpur are likely to face heavy rain and gusty winds.

Gilgit-Baltistan regions, including Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, and Diamer, may experience rain, while higher areas could see snowfall. This raises the risk of landslides and glacial lake outburst floods.

Punjab cities, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Sialkot, are also expected to receive rain. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, thunderstorms and snowfall are likely in mountainous areas such as Swat and Chitral.

The NDMA warned that major highways, including N-50, N-65, and N-70, could be affected by landslides. Urban flooding may also disrupt traffic in low-lying areas.

Authorities have been directed to remain on high alert, while citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and take precautionary measures.
