(Web Desk): After Lahore’s vibrant Basant 2026 celebrations, the colorful spring festival is set to reach Quetta, with a three-day event planned from February 13 to 15.

Following the successful revival of Basant festivities in Lahore, the traditional spring festival is now making its way to Quetta, as authorities and local organizers prepare for a three-day Basant festival from February 13 to 15 (Friday to Sunday).

The announcement has sparked widespread excitement across the Balochistan capital, with residents welcoming the return of a cultural celebration long absent from the city’s social calendar.

Major commercial hubs including Gard Singh Road, Prince Road, Alamdar Road, Kasi Road, Sariab Road, Jaan Muhammad Road, Sabzal Road, Nawa Killi, Brewery Road, Jail Road, Liaquat Bazaar, and surrounding neighborhoods are witnessing heavy footfall as shoppers purchase newly designed kites and festival items.

Cultural Events and Kite Flying Planned

The skies over Quetta are expected to soon be filled with vibrant kites, while several localities are organizing cultural programs, music performances, and traditional celebrations to mark Basant.

According to festival organizers, events will be held at multiple locations across the city, featuring kite-flying competitions, performances by local artists, traditional food stalls, and family-friendly entertainment.

Residents Welcome Cultural Revival

Residents say the festival will help address the lack of recreational activities in the city and offer a much-needed break from daily challenges.

Speaking to the media, local resident Misbah Advocate said that in a city like Quetta—where life can be demanding—Basant brings joy, strengthens social harmony, and presents a positive image of the city.

Many citizens see the event as the start of a new cultural chapter for Quetta, offering families and young people an opportunity to celebrate together in a peaceful environment.

Second Major City After Lahore

It is worth noting that Quetta becomes the second major city after Lahore where Basant has been revived, signaling a broader cultural resurgence across Pakistan.

Authorities and organizers have urged citizens to celebrate responsibly and follow safety guidelines to ensure the festivities remain peaceful and free from untoward incidents.
