LAHORE (Web Desk): Punjab unveils bold measures to combat the energy crisis, including school closures, fuel rationing, and work-from-home plans.

Punjab is preparing major steps to deal with the ongoing energy crisis, raising concerns about daily life across the province.

The Energy Department has submitted key recommendations to the provincial government and the chief minister for approval.

According to sources, one of the main proposals is to close educational institutions until April 15 to reduce energy consumption.

Officials have also suggested introducing a fuel rationing system to manage petrol and diesel supply more effectively.

Under this plan, a coupon or digital system may be used, and fuel could be provided to selected vehicles on specific days.

To further reduce energy use, strict work-from-home guidelines have been proposed for private offices.

Authorities are also considering a complete ban on unnecessary events to avoid extra power consumption.

At the same time, the government may increase metro and bus services to support public transport and reduce fuel usage.

The recommendations include switching off LED billboards and decorative lights across cities.

Streetlights may be operated on alternate schedules after 10 PM to save electricity.

In addition, market operating hours could be further restricted to reduce overall energy demand.

These steps are part of a broader plan to manage the crisis and ensure that available energy resources are used wisely.

Officials believe these measures could help stabilize the situation if implemented effectively.
