Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has announced an immediate ban on the use of high-octane petrol in all government vehicles. The decision, outlined in an official statement, aims to promote responsible and efficient use of national resources.
According to the statement, if it is absolutely necessary for an official to use high-octane fuel, the individual must bear the cost personally. The Prime Minister emphasized that government spending on high-octane petrol will no longer be permitted, reinforcing the policy of fiscal prudence.
Shahbaz Sharif explained that the move is part of a broader austerity policy intended to reduce unnecessary expenditures and ensure better management of public resources. He urged all federal departments, authorities, and subordinate institutions to implement the ban immediately and fully.

The Prime Minister called for the establishment of an effective monitoring system to ensure compliance, warning that violations of the ban would result in strict action. He added that the initiative is a timely step to curb wasteful spending and promote accountability in public offices.
Officials noted that the ban is expected to reduce overall government fuel expenses and encourage a culture of cost-consciousness across all federal agencies. By enforcing this policy, the administration aims to make better use of taxpayers’ money while setting an example for efficiency and fiscal responsibility throughout the public sector.
