(Web Desk): Major railway revival plan aims to enhance connectivity, reduce travel time, and modernize passenger services across Punjab.

 Pakistan Railways has announced the restoration of nine major railway routes across Punjab under a comprehensive development plan approved by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The initiative is designed to strengthen transport infrastructure, improve passenger facilities, and boost regional connectivity.

The decision was finalized during a high-level meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi and Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb. During the session, officials reviewed ongoing railway reforms and discussed upcoming projects aimed at enhancing service quality and operational efficiency.

Speaking on the occasion, Hanif Abbasi stated that the restoration of these routes will benefit over 80 million people by providing improved travel options, reducing delays, and facilitating economic growth across the province. The meeting also examined progress on the Lahore–Rawalpindi fast train project, which is expected to significantly cut travel time between Lahore and Rawalpindi.

In addition, authorities discussed environmental initiatives, including the development of green belts around railway stations in Kasur and Khadian Khas to improve surroundings and promote sustainability.

Following the meeting, both ministers visited Lahore Railway Station to inspect development work and review passenger amenities, reaffirming the government’s commitment to modernizing Pakistan Railways.
