Web Desk: The Punjab govt fund for artists has been launched with Rs500,000,000 artist support under the Punjab Artist Service Card to help deserving members of the creative community.

The Punjab govt fund for artists aims to provide long-term relief to those who have served art and culture for decades. Officials say this Rs500,000,000 artist support program is one of the largest initiatives ever introduced for artists in the province.

Under the Punjab Artist Service Card, eligible individuals will receive a monthly stipend of Rs5,000. In the first phase, 63 artists have already been paid Rs15,000 each as part of the Rs500,000,000 artist support scheme.

Authorities shared that 2,702 applications were received when the Punjab govt fund for artists was announced earlier this year. After detailed scrutiny, 1,831 applicants were declared eligible to benefit from the Punjab Artist Service Card.

Payments are being transferred through the Bank of Punjab to ensure transparency. The data of selected applicants has been forwarded to the Punjab Social Protection Authority for further processing under the Punjab govt fund for artists.

In addition to monthly stipends, the Rs500,000,000 artist support package also includes special grants. Artists can receive an education grant of Rs300,000, a medical grant of Rs200,000, and additional assistance of Rs100,000 in specific cases.

The government is also considering a monthly pension ranging from Rs10,000 to Rs15,000 for artists above 80 years of age. A separate relief plan for artists above 54 is under discussion as part of the broader Rs500,000,000 artist support initiative.

Officials believe the Punjab Artist Service Card will not only provide financial help but also restore dignity and recognition to senior artists who often struggle after retirement.
