(Web Desk): Punjab plans to lease unused government land for productive economic use, aiming to increase revenue and create jobs.

The Punjab government has announced a major initiative to increase provincial revenue and ensure effective utilization of government assets by auctioning unused public land across the province.

According to officials, government land that has remained unused for a long period will be leased out on a long-term basis of 10 to 20 years. The leases will be strictly for productive and economic purposes to maximize the financial and social benefits of the land.

Under the new policy, priority will be given to sectors such as tourism, industry, agriculture, and livestock. Officials say this approach will not only boost government revenue but also create new employment opportunities, supporting economic growth across the province.

Sources say that a transparent auction policy will be implemented to encourage private investment, restore investor confidence, and prevent any irregularities or misuse of public assets. The move is also expected to curb the illegal use of government land, ensuring proper and accountable management.

Authorities emphasized that this initiative aims to make government assets productive, transparent, and profitable, contributing significantly to Punjab’s overall economic development. By strategically leasing unused land, the government hopes to turn idle resources into engines of growth, fostering business opportunities and attracting both local and international investors.

Experts believe that such measures can strengthen the provincial economy, enhance public-private partnerships, and create a sustainable model for effective asset management in Pakistan.
