Obtaining a driving license is a key step toward responsible driving. In Punjab, confusion often arises due to unofficial fee charts circulating online and offline. To address this, the Driver Licensing Information Management System (DLIMS) has clearly defined the official fee structure.
DLIMS manages the issuance and renewal of driving licenses across Punjab. The system follows a simple and transparent pricing model. Fees depend only on the vehicle category and whether the license is new or being renewed.
Motorcycle license fees
Applying for a motorcycle license is the most affordable option. DLIMS charges Rs 400 for first-time issuance. For renewal after expiry, the fee is Rs 200 only.
Car and jeep license fees
Applicants seeking a car or jeep license must pay a fixed fee. The issuance fee is Rs 1350. The renewal fee is set at Rs 675. These rates apply uniformly across Punjab.
Commercial vehicle LTV license fees
For Light Transport Vehicle (LTV) licenses, the fees are higher due to the commercial nature of the category. DLIMS charges Rs 2480 for issuance. Renewal costs Rs 1240.

Why knowing official fees matters
Authorities warn citizens against relying on unofficial agents or fake schedules. Incorrect information often leads to overcharging and delays. DLIMS officials advise applicants to verify fees through official channels only.
The licensing process becomes easier when applicants know the correct charges in advance. It helps save time, money, and unnecessary stress.DLIMS continues to emphasize transparency and standardization. Citizens are encouraged to follow official guidelines to ensure a smooth driving license experience.
