An important development has emerged for pilgrims planning religious travel to Iran and Iraq. The federal government has completed all arrangements to start sea travel for ziyarat.
Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf confirmed that licenses have been issued to ferry service companies. This move clears the way for regular sea routes to Iran and Iraq.
Sea travel set to begin
Officials say sea travel will offer a safer and more organized option for pilgrims. The new route will also reduce pressure on land travel and improve overall travel management. Authorities believe many pilgrims will prefer this alternative.
New Ziyarat rules from January 2026
The Ministry of Religious Affairs announced a major policy shift. From January 2026, pilgrims will be allowed to travel to Iran and Iraq only through registered Ziyarat Group Organizers. The decision aims to stop illegal operators and improve transparency.
More Ziyarat companies approved
As part of the reforms, the government has issued registration certificates to 67 new Ziyarat Group Organizers. This brings the total number of registered companies across Pakistan to 91. Officials say this expansion will increase capacity and improve service quality.
