Punjab Basant 2027 Notification Is Fake, Govt Clarifies
The Punjab Home Department has clarified that no official notification regarding the holding of Basant 2027 has been issued, dismissing a document circulating on social media as fake and fabricated.
The clarification, which emerged on August 17, 2026, came after a purported government notification began circulating widely online.
The viral document was presented as an official announcement concerning the proposed organisation of Basant 2027 in Punjab. However, the Home Department has categorically denied issuing any such notification.
Government warns against fake information
The Punjab Home Department has advised citizens not to consider the viral document an authentic government notification.
Officials urged the public to avoid relying on unverified social media posts, particularly when they concern sensitive decisions involving public events, security regulations or government policy.

The department stressed that any official decision regarding Basant or related matters should be confirmed through authorised government channels before being shared or acted upon.
Where to verify official updates
The Home Department has also directed citizens to consult its official social media account, @HomeDptPunjab, for authentic and verified information.

The clarification is aimed at preventing misinformation from spreading further, particularly as social media platforms can quickly circulate documents that appear to be official but have not been issued by the government.
Citizens have been advised to check the source, date and authenticity of any government notification before sharing it online.
No official Basant 2027 announcement
The latest clarification means the viral document should not be treated as confirmation that Basant 2027 has been officially approved or scheduled by the Punjab government.
Any future decision concerning the festival, including dates, venues, kite-flying rules or other arrangements, would need to come through an authenticated government announcement.
The Home Department’s statement therefore seeks to draw a clear line between verified government decisions and unofficial material circulating on social media.
