The Punjab government has approved its first Skill City project to improve technical and vocational education for young people across the province.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif has asked for detailed plans and proposals for the project. The Skill City will include modern technical institutes designed in line with industry needs.
The main goal is to create centers where students can learn practical skills and prepare for real jobs. This step is expected to help youth find better employment opportunities after completing matriculation.
Officials said the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority will work with institutions in Scotland and the UK. This partnership aims to improve the quality of education and training.

The Skill City will offer a wide range of courses, including graphic designing, media production, fashion designing, data coding, and tourism training.
It will also provide hands-on training in fields such as industrial electrician work, plumbing, solar water heating systems, professional cooking, and allied health services.
The chief minister has directed authorities to hire highly qualified teachers. She also asked industry experts to help design courses so that students learn skills that match market demands.
This project is seen as a major step towards modernizing education and reducing unemployment among youth.
