The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has released an official awareness video to guide users on how to recover a hacked WhatsApp account, urging citizens to remain calm and follow the correct recovery steps instead of panicking.
According to the PTA, WhatsApp users whose accounts have been compromised can restore access within minutes by following a few simple steps shown in the instructional video. The authority emphasized that timely action is crucial to prevent misuse of personal data, messages, and contacts.

In the video message, PTA advises affected users to re-register their WhatsApp number, request a verification code, and immediately contact WhatsApp support if unauthorized access continues. Users are also encouraged to report hacking attempts to raise awareness and help others avoid similar threats.

The regulator urged the public to watch the full video, stay informed, and share the guidance with family and friends to strengthen collective digital safety.
Meanwhile, cybersecurity and technology experts have also issued warnings, highlighting that WhatsApp hacking incidents are increasing due to phishing links, fake verification messages, and weak account security settings.
Experts stress that awareness combined with proper security measures can significantly reduce the risk of account compromise.
