(Web Desk): Excise offices cancel holidays to facilitate vehicle transfers linked to petrol subsidy access.

Authorities have cancelled holidays at excise offices to ensure smooth delivery of services as citizens rush to benefit from the petrol subsidy scheme. The move aims to prevent delays and manage the growing number of applicants.

According to officials, the Director General of Excise has directed all relevant wings to remain on duty and continue providing full services, including vehicle transfers. This step is expected to help citizens complete necessary documentation without interruption during the holiday period.

Under the new arrangements, motorcycle owners can now transfer their vehicles into their own names, a key requirement for accessing the petrol subsidy. Offices will remain open for the next four days, even during official holidays, to handle the increased workload.

The decision comes as a large number of people are trying to update vehicle ownership records to qualify for the subsidy. Long queues and heavy footfall have been reported at several offices, prompting authorities to take urgent action.

Officials say the extended working days will not only reduce congestion but also ensure that eligible citizens can benefit from the subsidy without unnecessary delays.

Experts believe such measures are crucial in managing public service demand during policy rollouts, especially when financial relief programs are involved.
