Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to make the SMS required for registration under the PM Fuel Relief Scheme completely free of charge. The move is aimed at making the subsidy easier to access for eligible citizens across Pakistan, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The scheme provides fuel relief to owners of motorcycles, rickshaws and vehicles with engine capacities of up to 800cc. Eligible beneficiaries can receive a subsidy of Rs100 per litre under the programme.

How to register

Citizens can register by sending an SMS to 9771 using the required details. The message should include “REG”, the CNIC number, vehicle registration number, the first letter of the province where the vehicle is registered and the vehicle registration date.

The registration process is available nationwide, while the fuel relief rollout has been expanded beyond the initial Islamabad launch. The government has also instructed officials and volunteers to assist citizens with registration and other procedures.

Fuel token process

After successful registration, eligible citizens need to send “TOK” to 9771 before visiting a petrol station to receive a fuel token. The token can then be presented at the petrol station to obtain subsidised petrol.

Motorcycle and three-wheeler users can receive up to 20 litres of subsidised petrol per month, while eligible cars up to 800cc can receive up to 30 litres.
