Pakistan strongly condemns drone strikes on Saudi Arabia

In a statement issued on Monday, the Foreign Office said Pakistan stands firmly with Saudi Arabia and fully supports the kingdom’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, peace, and prosperity.

According to Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defence, the kingdom’s air defence systems intercepted and destroyed several drones that attempted to target petroleum facilities in the Eastern Region and Riyadh.

A ministry spokesperson said the drones were launched by Iran-backed militias in Iraq. The spokesperson added that Saudi Arabia has the right to defend itself and reserves the right to respond at a time and place of its choosing.

The Pakistani Foreign Office described the drone attacks as “provocative attacks” that pose a grave threat to peace and stability across the region. It said Pakistan remains committed to supporting all efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace, security, and stability in the Middle East.

The Foreign Office also reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia and stressed that Islamabad will continue to take all possible steps to support regional peace and security. The latest attacks have once again raised concerns over growing tensions in the Middle East, where ongoing security challenges continue to threaten regional stability.
