ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): Pakistan Railways has approved major restoration and modernization plans for Lahore Railway Station and Taxila Railway Station, aiming to preserve their historic beauty while providing modern facilities for passengers.

Heritage restoration with modern facilities

According to Pakistan Railways, the Punjab government will support both projects under the directions of the provincial leadership.

The projects are designed to protect the original architecture and historical importance of both stations while improving travel facilities, safety, accessibility, and overall passenger comfort.

Lahore Railway Station to receive major upgrades

At Lahore Railway Station, Pakistan Railways will carry out structural repairs and restore the historic building along with its platforms.

The project also includes improvements to the drainage system, installation of heritage-style lighting, construction of a modern family lounge, upgraded reservation and information counters, and several new passenger facilities.

Authorities said all work will preserve the station’s historic character while making it more convenient for travelers.

Taxila Railway Station to get a modern makeover

At Taxila Railway Station, Pakistan Railways plans to build new pedestrian walkways, organized parking areas, and modern washrooms.

The historic ticket office will be restored, while the old goods warehouse will be converted into a café and restaurant for visitors.
