Like the rest of the world, Pakistan will observe Earth Hour on Saturday night under the theme “Give an Hour for Earth,” encouraging people to take action for the planet.
The annual event will be marked by switching off non-essential lights from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm across the country. This symbolic gesture aims to raise awareness about climate change, energy conservation, and environmental protection.
Launched in 2007 by the World Wide Fund for Nature, Earth Hour has grown into one of the largest global environmental movements, now observed in more than 190 countries and territories. Millions of individuals, businesses, and governments participate each year to show their commitment to sustainability.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the campaign, making it a significant milestone in global environmental efforts. Organizers are urging people not only to switch off lights but also to adopt practical actions such as reducing electricity consumption, cutting waste, and supporting biodiversity.
In Pakistan, major cities, public buildings, and households are expected to take part in the initiative. Officials say the campaign provides an opportunity to reflect on environmental challenges and promote responsible energy use.

The theme “Give an Hour for Earth” highlights the importance of collective responsibility and encourages citizens to dedicate time toward planet-friendly actions.
Experts believe that small individual efforts, when combined globally, can lead to meaningful environmental change and help address the growing climate crisis.
