Veteran and versatile Pakistani actor Nauman Ijaz has opened up about his health struggle, revealing that he was diagnosed with cancer near his ear in 2024.

Speaking in a recent interview, the actor recalled the day doctors informed him about the diagnosis. He said he looked towards the sky during prayer and reflected on his life, saying he had never intentionally wronged anyone or taken another person's rights.

Ijaz said he asked Allah to take him quickly if his purpose in life had been fulfilled because he did not want to see his family suffer.

Actor recalls difficult period

The actor said he feared lengthy hospital visits and painful treatments such as chemotherapy. During that difficult period, he would recite different prayers and religious verses before going to sleep, hoping he would not wake up the next morning.

He later shared his diagnosis with people close to him. According to Ijaz, one of his close friends advised him to regularly recite Surah Rahman.

Surah Rahman became source of strength

Ijaz said he has continued reciting Surah Rahman since receiving that advice. He expressed his personal belief that the Quranic chapter played a major role in helping him remain hopeful and recover during his illness.

The actor said he subsequently underwent a successful operation during which the tumour was removed.

Chemotherapy no longer required

Ijaz recalled that his first chemotherapy session had been scheduled for July 23, 2024. However, doctors informed him on July 22 that they had found no remaining signs requiring chemotherapy, meaning the planned treatment was no longer needed.

His revelation has offered fans a glimpse into a deeply personal chapter of his life and the faith that helped him through it.
