Lahore traffic fines reduced with launch of updated enforcement app

Authorities in Lahore have introduced a new version of the traffic enforcement application and revised traffic fines in an effort to improve road discipline, transparency, and compliance across the city.

Under the updated system, commercial vehicles will also receive challan tickets for traffic violations, expanding enforcement to all categories of vehicles.

Officials said several common violations, including using a mobile phone while driving, violating lane discipline, disrupting traffic flow, and using pressure horns, will now carry a fine of Rs1,000. Fines for riding motorcycles without helmets, driving the wrong way, and operating a vehicle without a valid driving licence will remain at Rs2,000.

For car drivers, lane violations will result in a fine of Rs2,000, while jumping a traffic signal will lead to a penalty of Rs3,000. Authorities have introduced stricter penalties for commercial drivers, with fines reaching up to Rs5,000 for driving without a licence or violating traffic signals.

The revised system also targets vehicles causing environmental pollution through excessive smoke emissions. According to officials, motorcycles and rickshaws emitting smoke will face fines of Rs2,000, while cars will be fined Rs3,000 and commercial vehicles Rs5,000.

Traffic authorities said the updated enforcement app will improve monitoring, speed up challan processing, and increase transparency in traffic policing across Lahore. Officials believe the revised fine structure and digital monitoring system will encourage safer driving habits and help reduce traffic violations across the city.
