Pakistan Railways has suspended the Jaffar Express service from Quetta to Peshawar for two days as authorities carry out repair and maintenance work on the railway track.

According to railway officials, the train will not depart from Quetta for Peshawar on September 5 and 6. The temporary suspension is aimed at allowing repair work to be completed safely.

Jaffar Express route affected

The Jaffar Express travelling from Peshawar towards Quetta has also been restricted to Jacobabad instead of completing its journey to the Balochistan capital.

Similar temporary suspensions have been announced several times this year because of track maintenance and operational or security concerns.

Pakistan Railways passengers face difficulties

The disruption is expected to create difficulties for passengers travelling between Balochistan and other parts of Pakistan, particularly those relying on rail services for long-distance journeys.

Passengers may need to make alternative travel arrangements during the two-day suspension. Previous disruptions on the route have also affected travellers and forced services to terminate at Jacobabad.

Bolan Mail and Chaman Passenger remain suspended

The latest disruption comes as other important rail links from Balochistan remain unavailable.

Railway authorities have previously said the Bolan Mail between Quetta and Karachi and the Chaman Passenger service from Quetta have remained suspended for around six months.

The repeated interruptions have increased pressure on passengers who depend on railway services connecting Quetta with other provinces.
