(Web Desk): Punjab government introduces subsidized, interest-free e-bikes with easy installments to make commuting cheaper for teachers.

The Government of Punjab has launched a new initiative aimed at providing electric bikes to teachers on easy, interest-free installments. The scheme is designed to address daily commuting challenges faced by educators while also promoting environmentally friendly transport across the province.

Under the plan, each electric bike is expected to cost between Rs200,000 and Rs250,000. The government will cover 30 to 40 percent of the total price as a subsidy, while the remaining amount will be paid by teachers over a period of two to three years. Officials say this structure ensures affordability without adding financial pressure.

Monthly installments are likely to range from Rs3,600 to Rs4,200, making the scheme accessible for government school teachers. Authorities believe this move will significantly cut transport expenses, especially at a time when fuel prices remain high, while also encouraging a shift toward sustainable mobility.

How to apply for the e-bike scheme

Applications will be submitted online through the Punjab Teachers Foundation website once registrations open. Teachers will need to provide their CNIC, service certificate, valid driving license, and a recent passport-size photograph.

After submitting the application, candidates can download a verification slip. Final selection and eligibility confirmation will be communicated via SMS or email. Officials added that the scheme will be implemented in phases following the completion of the registration process.

The government says this initiative is part of broader reforms to support teachers and modernize transport facilities within the education sector.
