(Web Desk): Punjab government reaches major milestone by distributing and approving 31,000 tractors under Green Tractor Scheme.

Green Tractor Scheme reached a record milestone as Punjab government distributed and approved 31,000 tractors to farmers across the province.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced the development, calling it the largest agricultural support initiative in recent provincial history. She said previous governments provided around 20,000 tractors over 25 years, while the current government achieved 31,000 tractors within just two years.

Officials confirmed the scheme was implemented in three phases. In Phase I, about 10,000 tractors with 50 to 75 horsepower were distributed to farmers. Phase II included 11,000 tractors ranging from 75 to 85 horsepower, each offered with a subsidy of Rs 1 million to reduce farmers’ financial burden.

In the latest Phase III, balloting was completed in February 2026 for an additional 10,000 tractors. This phase focuses on small farmers by offering tractors with 50 to 65 horsepower and a subsidy of Rs 500,000 per unit.

Agriculture department officials said the scheme aims to promote farm mechanisation, improve crop yields, and lower operational costs. Modern machinery is expected to help farmers work more efficiently and increase productivity.
