Households across Pakistan are facing growing difficulties as low Sui gas pressure and supply shortages force many families to rely on costly liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), which is reportedly being sold well above the government-fixed price in several areas.

Consumers say LPG prices have increased once again, with retailers in different markets charging between Rs400 and Rs430 per kilogram. The official LPG price, however, is set at Rs241 per kilogram, raising concerns about overpricing and alleged black-market sales.

Residents complain they continue to pay high Sui gas bills despite receiving low gas pressure or no supply during key cooking hours. As a result, many households have no option but to purchase expensive LPG cylinders to meet their daily cooking needs.

The rising cost of fuel has added to the financial burden on families already struggling with inflation and increasing household expenses. Middle-income and fixed-income households say they are among the hardest hit, as higher energy costs leave less money for other essential needs.

Energy experts say stable gas supplies and effective market monitoring are essential to prevent price manipulation and ensure consumers receive fuel at official rates. They also stress the importance of improving distribution systems to reduce recurring shortages.

Citizens have urged the authorities to take immediate action against profiteering, enforce official LPG prices, and restore reliable Sui gas supplies. They believe timely intervention would help reduce household expenses and provide much-needed relief to millions of consumers affected by the ongoing energy supply problems.
