(Web Desk): Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori announces free plots for Gul Plaza victims, blaming tax mismanagement and official neglect for Karachi’s tragedies.

Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori has announced that families affected by the Gul Plaza tragedy will be provided free residential plots, calling the move a step toward justice for victims of long-standing neglect in Karachi. He made the announcement while addressing a ceremony held at the Governor House in honour of the affected families.

Speaking on the occasion, Tessori strongly criticised the mismanagement of taxes collected from Karachi, saying that despite contributing massive revenues, the city receives little in return. He said authorities remain ill-prepared to respond to emergencies, exposing citizens to repeated disasters.

The governor stressed that Karachi must be allowed to make its own decisions. He said the prime minister and chief minister should step back if they cannot fulfil their responsibilities. “If both federal and provincial governments fail, the Governor House will take charge,” he warned.

Recalling the tragic Gul Plaza incident, Tessori said families were left with nothing but ashes of their loved ones, calling it a painful reflection of administrative failure. He added that placing a price tag on human lives has become meaningless, yet effective safety measures are still ignored.

Highlighting financial injustice, he claimed that less than 5 percent of taxes collected from Karachi are spent on the city itself. He demanded immediate relief for victims and held multiple authorities responsible, including UC Nazims, Town Nazims, the Mayor of Karachi, and concerned government departments.

Tessori said he has already contacted builders willing to provide plots free of cost to the victims’ families. He emphasized that justice must be delivered and citizens have the full right to raise their voices against negligence.
