(Web Desk): Punjab residents are set for a rare four-day long weekend as Kashmir Day and Basant holidays merge with the weekend.

People across Punjab are set to enjoy an extended long weekend after the provincial government announced consecutive public holidays, giving citizens a welcome chance to relax, celebrate, and spend time with loved ones.

According to the official notification, February 5 will remain a public holiday across the province on account of Kashmir Day. This will be immediately followed by a provincial holiday on February 6, declared in connection with Basant. With Saturday and Sunday falling next, the announcement creates a four-day long weekend for offices, schools, and many businesses across Punjab.

Chief Minister Punjab said the extended break aims to provide people with an opportunity to celebrate Basant festivities, strengthen social bonds, and take a short pause from routine work life. She urged citizens to mark the occasion responsibly, stressing safety, discipline, and respect for the law during celebrations.

The announcement has sparked excitement across the province, particularly in major cities like Lahore, where Basant-related activities traditionally attract large crowds. Families are planning gatherings, while many residents are also preparing short trips to hill stations and tourist spots to make full use of the long break.

Officials hope the holidays will boost public morale while ensuring that celebrations remain peaceful and well-managed. Citizens have been advised to follow safety guidelines so the extended weekend can be enjoyed without incidents.
