Rahim Yar Khan (Web Desk): Five women died, and 55 were injured after the roof of a Benazir Income Support Center collapsed in Rahim Yar Khan, where hundreds had gathered for aid.

A tragic accident occurred in Rahim Yar Khan when the roof of a Benazir Income Support Programme center suddenly collapsed, killing five women and injuring dozens of others.

According to rescue officials, the incident happened near Chak No 125, where more than 200 women had gathered to receive their payments under the Benazir Income Support Programme.

Witnesses said the women were waiting inside and around a small retail shop that was being used as the payment center when the weak roof suddenly gave way.

Within seconds, the structure collapsed, and many women were trapped under the debris, creating panic and chaos at the site.

Rescue teams rushed to the scene immediately and began pulling injured women from the rubble.

The injured were shifted to Shaikh Zayed Hospital, where doctors started emergency treatment.

Hospital officials confirmed that five women were brought dead, while dozens of others were admitted with injuries.

The district administration declared an emergency at the hospital to ensure immediate medical care for the victims.

Officials said an investigation has been launched to determine why the roof collapsed and whether the building was safe for such a large gathering.

Authorities are also examining whether proper arrangements had been made to manage the large number of people who had come to collect financial assistance.

Local residents said hundreds of women often gather at such centers during payment days, which increases pressure on small or temporary structures.

The tragic incident has raised serious questions about safety arrangements at centers distributing payments under the Benazir Income Support Programme.

Many people believe better crowd management and safer buildings are necessary to prevent such tragedies in the future.
