The temporary relaxation granted to markets and restaurants during the Eid holidays is coming to an end, with Lahore set to restore its previous business operating hours from June 2.

According to official instructions, the exemption from closing-time restrictions was only valid until June 1. Beginning June 2, markets across the city will once again be required to follow the earlier schedule introduced as part of energy conservation measures.

Under the restored timings, markets and shopping centres will close at 8pm. The move marks the end of the special Eid arrangement that had allowed businesses to operate beyond normal hours to accommodate increased shopping activity and festive demand.

Authorities said the temporary extension was provided to facilitate citizens during Eid celebrations, when commercial activity typically remains high. With the holiday period now ending, the administration has decided to reinstate the standard schedule.

Restaurant operators and business owners have also been advised to comply with the official timings and cooperate with authorities. Officials warned that violations of the prescribed hours could result in action under relevant regulations.

The return to the previous schedule is part of broader efforts aimed at reducing electricity consumption and promoting efficient energy use. Similar measures have been implemented in various cities to help manage power demand and encourage energy conservation.

Shoppers have been advised to plan their visits accordingly, especially during evening hours, as markets will no longer remain open under the temporary Eid relaxation.

The administration reiterated that the restrictions are intended to support national energy-saving goals while ensuring smooth commercial activity across the city.
