DIG Islamabad chairs meeting on Muharram security arrangements
A high-level meeting was chaired by the DIG Islamabad on Thursday to review and strengthen security arrangements for the month of Muharram in the federal capital. During the meeting, all police officers were assigned special duties to ensure fool-proof security during Muharram ul Haram across Islamabad.
DIG Muhammad Jawad Tariq directed officials to implement a comprehensive security plan for the protection of religious gatherings and processions. He further instructed officers to carry out regular patrolling and search operations in sensitive areas and key localities to prevent any untoward incident.

The DIG also emphasized that all officials must maintain strong coordination with Imambargah organizers and peace committee members to ensure smooth arrangements. He stressed the importance of strict checking at entry and exit points of the city as well as outside Imambargahs, to strengthen overall security.
Officials said these measures aim to ensure peace, safety, and uninterrupted religious activities during the holy month. According to astronomical calculations, Muharram-ul-Haram 1448 AH is expected to begin in Pakistan on June 17, as the new moon is unlikely to be visible on the evening of June 15.
