The Balochistan Education Department has introduced a new supplementary examination system for Class 8 students from the 2026 academic year, aiming to improve educational standards while reducing student dropouts and preventing the loss of an academic year.

According to an official notification issued by the Schools Education Department, the new Supplementary Middle Standardized Examination will provide another opportunity for students who fail one or more papers in the annual Class 8 examination.

Failed students to get second chance under new policy

The notification states that the Balochistan Assessment and Examination Commission (BAEC) will conduct the supplementary examination every year during the first week of March.

Students who fail any paper in the annual Middle Standardized Examination will be eligible to appear in the supplementary test.

Under the new policy, students who do not pass the annual examination will still be allowed provisional admission to Class 9. However, they must successfully clear the supplementary examination to secure permanent admission.

Education officials said the initiative is designed to give students a fair second chance instead of forcing them to repeat an entire academic year.

The department believes the new examination system will help reduce dropout rates, improve student retention, and ensure that learners can continue their education without unnecessary delays.

Officials added that the reform is part of broader efforts to modernise the province's education system and improve the quality of assessments across schools.

The Education Department expects the new policy to benefit thousands of students across Balochistan by making the examination process more flexible while maintaining academic standards.
