Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has officially launched the Apna Ghar Housing Scheme 2026 in Pakistan, a major government initiative aimed at providing affordable housing to low and middle-income families through easy installment plans.

Under this large-scale housing program, billions of rupees in financing will be provided to help citizens purchase or build their own homes, marking one of the country’s biggest social welfare housing projects.

The initiative is designed to address Pakistan’s growing housing shortage and provide shelter to millions who currently do not own a home.

Apna Ghar Housing Scheme 2026: Key Financing Details

The government has introduced flexible financing options under the scheme, making home ownership more accessible for ordinary citizens.

Loan Structure:

  • Loan Range: Rs. 2.5 million to Rs. 10 million
  • Repayment Period: Up to 20 years

Monthly Installments:

  • Rs. 2.5 million loan → Rs. 16,999/month
  • Rs. 5 million loan → Rs. 32,997/month
  • Rs. 7.5 million loan → Rs. 49,497/month
  • Rs. 10 million loan → Rs. 65,996/month

The scheme allows citizens to purchase a 5 to 10 marla house or plot, depending on eligibility and financing capacity.

Eligibility Criteria for Apna Ghar Scheme Pakistan

To apply for the housing scheme, applicants must meet specific requirements:

  • Must possess a valid CNIC
  • Should not be a defaulter of any financial institution
  • Must be a low or middle-income citizen

Under the program:

  • 90% of the property cost will be financed by the government and banks
  • 10% must be contributed by the applicant

Banks and Financial Institutions Involved

The housing loans will be provided through multiple financial channels, including:

  • Islamic and commercial banks
  • Microfinance banks
  • House Building Finance Company

This multi-institution approach aims to ensure wider access to affordable housing loans across Pakistan.

PM Shehbaz Sharif’s Vision for Housing in Pakistan

During the launch ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the urgent need for housing in Pakistan’s rapidly growing population.

He stated that a significant portion of Pakistan’s 240 million population still lacks proper shelter, with many families living under open skies due to financial constraints.

Calling housing a “fundamental right,” the Prime Minister emphasized that providing homes to citizens is a national responsibility.

Nationwide Implementation of Housing Program

The government confirmed that the Apna Ghar Housing Scheme 2026 will not be limited to any single region. It will be implemented across:

  • Islamabad
  • All provinces of Pakistan
  • Azad Jammu and Kashmir
  • Gilgit-Baltistan

Government Targets for Housing Construction

The housing plan includes ambitious construction targets:

  • First Year Target: 50,000 homes
  • First Phase Financing: Rs. 321 billion
  • Four-Year Target: 500,000 homes
  • Total Financing Plan: Rs. 3.2 trillion

The scheme includes construction options for 5, 7, and 10 marla houses.
