A sharp increase in jet fuel prices across Pakistan has triggered concerns over rising domestic air fares, with travel industry experts warning of significant ticket price hikes in the coming days.
According to travel agents, the price of jet fuel has increased by Rs40.20 per litre, pushing overall costs to a record high. Since March 2026, jet fuel prices have surged by nearly 174 percent, marking one of the steepest increases in recent months.
Jet Fuel Price Hike Hits Aviation Sector
The continuous rise in jet fuel has placed additional pressure on airlines operating domestic routes. Prices have jumped from around Rs328 per litre to Rs517.17 per litre, creating a major cost burden for carriers.
Industry sources say this surge is expected to directly impact ticket pricing as airlines adjust fares to manage operational expenses.

Air Ticket Prices Expected to Rise
Travel agents warn that airfares for major domestic routes are likely to increase by Rs5,000 to Rs6,000 per ticket following the fuel price adjustment.
The route from Karachi to Lahore is expected to rise from approximately Rs32,000 to Rs38,000, while fares for Karachi to Islamabad are also projected to increase within the same range.
These changes could significantly affect domestic travelers, especially frequent flyers and business passengers who rely on air travel for intercity movement.
Airlines Advise Updated Fare Adjustments
Airlines operating in the country have reportedly advised passengers to stay informed about updated fare structures and book tickets according to revised pricing.
The aviation sector is closely monitoring the situation as further fluctuations in fuel prices could lead to additional fare revisions in the coming weeks.
