A 12-year-old madrasa student was found dead in Sindh's Tando Allahyar district, prompting a major police investigation and the arrest of three suspects, officials said on Thursday.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Syed Saleem Shah, preliminary findings suggest the child may have been drugged before the incident. Police launched an operation soon after receiving information about the case and detained three individuals for questioning.

The SSP said initial evidence points to possible child abuse, but authorities are awaiting the results of the postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

The tragic case has sparked concern among local residents and child rights advocates, who have called for a transparent investigation and strict action against anyone found responsible.

Police officials said forensic evidence is being collected and statements from witnesses are being recorded as part of the ongoing inquiry. Investigators are also examining whether additional suspects may have been involved.

The incident comes days after another high-profile case in Sindh, where a faith healer was arrested in Mirpurkhas over allegations of sexual assault involving two teenage cousins. In that case, one girl died while the other was hospitalized in critical condition.

Authorities have assured the public that both investigations will be pursued thoroughly and that legal action will be taken against those responsible once the facts are established.
