The Punjab government has officially issued a notification revising school timings in Punjab for all government schools, effective from January 19 to April 15, 2026, aiming to improve academic efficiency and teaching standards.
According to the Punjab School Education Department, single-shift schools will operate from 10:00 am to 2:15 pm from Monday to Thursday, while on Fridays, classes will be held from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm.
For double-shift schools, the morning shift will run from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, whereas the afternoon shift has been scheduled from 2:15 pm to 4:45 pm.

The notification also outlines a revised schedule for teachers. From Monday to Thursday, teachers will be required to engage in curriculum preparation, professional training, and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities. Participation in these training and curriculum-related programs has been declared mandatory.
Additionally, teachers’ attendance on alternate Saturdays will be compulsory to further enhance lesson planning, curriculum quality, and classroom performance.
Officials stated that the revised Punjab school timings 2026 aim to create a balanced academic routine for students while providing educators sufficient time for training and instructional planning. The initiative is expected to improve learning outcomes, teaching effectiveness, and overall education standards across the province.
The School Education Department emphasized that strict compliance with the new schedule by both teachers and students will be essential to achieve the desired improvements in academic performance.
