The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE) has issued a clear clarification regarding widespread rumors about a new online Protector Certificate for overseas employment, urging citizens not to fall for misinformation circulating on social media.
In an official social media statement, the Bureau said that certain irresponsible elements are spreading baseless claims to create public anxiety. These false reports allege that from February 1, 2026, the online Protector Certificate, also known as the e-Protector, will be mandatory for all individuals traveling abroad for employment.
The Bureau further rejected circulating claims suggesting that people who already have a Protector sticker or stamp on their passports would also be required to obtain a new e-Protector certificate. Officials categorically termed these reports as fake and misleading.

According to the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment, no such new policy or procedure has been introduced by the relevant authorities. Existing rules regarding the Protector of Emigrants remain unchanged, and no additional requirement has been imposed for overseas job seekers.
The Bureau urged citizens—especially those seeking employment abroad—to rely only on authentic and official sources for information rather than unverified social media posts. Officials emphasized that spreading unchecked information to millions of people is a serious responsibility and requires accuracy, caution, and truthfulness.
The public has also been requested to share this clarification widely to counter misinformation, prevent unnecessary panic, and ensure that no individual faces undue stress due to false news regarding overseas employment procedures.
