The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a new CNIC Data Monitoring App to enhance identity data protection, transparency, and privacy for citizens across Pakistan.
According to a statement issued by NADRA, the newly launched app has been developed in line with modern digital governance and cybersecurity standards, enabling citizens to monitor the usage of their national identity card (CNIC) data for the first time. Through this app, users can check where, when, and for what purpose their personal data has been accessed or verified.
The app provides a complete data verification history, clearly showing which government or private institution verified a citizen’s CNIC, along with the date, time, and nature of verification. This transparent system allows citizens to identify suspicious or unauthorized data usage, helping them take timely action.

Officials noted that in the past, incidents of identity data misuse, illegal verification, and data leaks have caused serious problems for citizens. The launch of the NADRA Data Monitoring App establishes a strong check-and-balance mechanism, enabling early detection and prevention of such activities while holding institutions accountable.
NADRA stated that the app significantly strengthens privacy protection and data security, incorporating advanced cybersecurity features to safeguard citizen information. Authorities believe the initiative will help curb cybercrime, identity fraud, and fake verification cases, reinforcing public trust in digital systems.
Experts have described the move as a major step toward improved digital governance in Pakistan, emphasizing that citizen-controlled data monitoring is essential for transparency and responsible data usage.
NADRA officials further revealed that additional features are planned for future updates, including real-time alerts, complaint submission options, and instant guidance services. Overall, the app is expected to become a milestone initiative in protecting CNIC data and ensuring its lawful and responsible use nationwide.
