The National Database and Registration Authority, commonly known as NADRA, has introduced a new facility that allows citizens to update their records without visiting NADRA offices.
According to the report, NADRA is the only authorised institution that issues national identity cards and other identity documents to Pakistanis living inside and outside the country.

To make services easier, NADRA has launched several digital facilities, including the Pak ID mobile app. Through this app, users can complete many tasks while staying at home.
Citizens who want to make changes to their NADRA records can now do so using the Pak ID mobile app. There is no need to visit a NADRA office, saving both time and effort.
Those wishing to update information on their CNIC or NICOP can complete the process by following the given steps on the app. The service is offered at a lower fee and allows faster processing from home.
There are two categories of CNIC updates: printable and non-printable. In the Pak ID mobile app, printable information is updated through “اپ ڈیٹ کارڈ”, while non-printable information is updated through “اپ ڈیٹ انفو”.
Printable information includes details printed on the CNIC, such as name, father’s or husband’s name, current and permanent address, and date of birth. Non-printable information includes details stored in records but not printed on the card, such as birth details, family members, marital status, education, and mother tongue.

In the non-printable category, changes to marital status are important to note. Men can update all types of marital status changes. However, changing status from unmarried to married must be done under the printable category, as the husband’s name is printed on the card.
This step shows NADRA is moving towards digital convenience. It reduces long queues and saves time. Easy access may improve public trust and service efficiency.
